May Prayer Service
As the children of our parish would have received their First Holy Communion last Saturday and this Saturday and as we are in the month of May, we include this week a short prayer service in honour of Jesus and Mary asking for their help and protection which we invite you to pray in your homes.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Opening Prayer: Mary, we thank you for giving us Jesus. Jesus, we thank you for giving us yourself in the Eucharist. O God, we come to you to listen to your word and to talk to you in our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Reading: A reading from the first letter of Saint John
‘Let us love one another, because love is from God: everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. Since God loves us so much, we also ought to love one another. If we love one another, God lives in us
The word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God
Prayers of the Faithful: We thank God for loving us and we promise to love him and to love others as we pray to him for all our needs
1.      The disciples recognised the Lord Jesus at the breaking of bread. We thank you Jesus for your presence in the Eucharist and we pray that we recognise you also in other people especially in those who need us most. May we love them as you love us.
Lord, Hear Us.
2. We pray for the pupils of the schools of our parish, for their parents and families, for the teachers and all the staff and for all the people of our parish. Even though we are apart, may we be united in our prayers and care for each other and may God bless and protect us all.
Lord, Hear us

3. We pray especially for Aidan, Áine, Amy, Ciara, Daniel, Evan, Katelyn, Kellie, Kiera, Maura, Mya and all those who would have received their First Holy Communion today. May they continue to grow in their love for Jesus and receive him with joy and devotion later in the year.
Lord, Hear Us.
4. We pray for those with whom we share food every day. We remember those who have little food and often go hungry.
Lord, Hear Us.
5. We ask God to take care of all those who are sick today and those who have no one to care for them. We pray to the Lord.
Lord hear us.
6. We pray for all those who have died, especially our relatives and friends. May God welcome them to His wonderful home in Heaven. Lord hear us.
Mother of Jesus, blessed are you. Mother of Jesus, my mother too. Help me to live like Jesus and help me to live like you.
The rosary is a special prayer. In it we remember key moments in the life of Jesus. It is also a prayer that honours Mary.
We will now pray one decade of the Rosary in honour of Mary. We will pray the fifth Joyful Mystery, the finding of the temple. (One Our Father; Ten Hail Mary’s; one Glory Be To The Father)
Let us pray:
Loving God, We thank you for the example of Mary, whom you choose from among all women to be the mother of your son. May she watch over us in our lives as she watched over and cared for Jesus. Help us to always have the courage to say ‘Yes’ to what you ask of us, just as she did. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
In the name of the Father, and of the son and of the Holy
